SSDM 2020 will be held as an All-VIRTUAL conference,
September 27-30, 2020.
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19, the SSDM committees have been carefully monitoring its development. The WHO announced it a pandemic on March 12, and governments around the world are now issuing restrictions on travel, gatherings, and meetings in an effort to limit and slow the spread of the virus. Most of us are now facing the restrictions on going outside as a result of the protective public health measures.
The situation is still evolving in an unpredictable way. The WHO pointed out on April 13 that COVID-19 accelerates very fast, but it decelerates much more slowly, and control measures must be lifted slowly. There is also the fear that the second wave of the outbreak may happen. As the health and safety of the conference attendees is the number one priority of our conference committees, we have decided to move the conference online. We are also aware that the COVID-19 is making an impact on your research activities, and we therefore decided to extend the paper deadline about two months, from May 18 to July 20.
We are nevertheless excited to bring this SSDM 2020 to you in your location, and we will work very hard to ensure the SSDM 2020 maintains its high standard and quality. We look forward to joining you virtually for SSDM from September 27 to 30, 2020.
With its 52nd annual conference being held in 2020, SSDM is one of the most traditional international conferences with a high reputation. SSDM covers a truly wide spectrum of topics related to solid state devices and materials, extended to those for the multidisciplinary and emerging research fields. Twelve areas have been set up to facilitate active discussion among academia, industry and government.
Key researchers will also be invited from all over the world to present the cutting edge research in the rapidly advancing fields. Your contribution is highly solicited from both industry and academia. A special issue of the Japanese Journal of Applied Physics (JJAP) focusing on this conference is scheduled to be published.
Exhibition booths will also be organized for companies and agencies that may exhibit devices, technologies and information relevant to the R&D efforts of approximately 1,000 participants. If you are interested in setting up a booth, please contact the secretariat.
